The 24 hour staffing is definitely a plus. No other vet was open when our 9 week old pup suddenly started coughing and gagging....classic signs of Kennel Cough, which is a common ailment amongst puppies that have not yet been fully vaccinated. We drive 30 minutes to the emergency clinic and they make us call the office to have someone come out and meet us at the car. A bit strange but they were worried about canine influenza. I understand they don't want to spread the disease but just seemed very over dramatic to treat our puppy like he was some kind of E.T. A vet tech came out and was pretty rude to us, not really listening to what we were saying. She just was just quick to assume our puppy had the flu when we were trying to explain the symptoms. His temperature was normal so if it were the flu the temperature would have been high. It was just not a good experience, making us wait in the car for a dog with obvious kennel cough. And they don't do vaccinations so it just is a time and money saver to take our dog to the regular vet. We just wanted to get some care on a Sunday evening before Memorial Day but we ended up just wasting time.

  • My family and I have used this Vet Emergency Clinic for 15+ years. It is hit and miss with the staff. Some of the staff (reception, techs and docs) genuinely care and have good bedside manner, while others leave a lot to be desired at times. Since my dogs seem to only get "Very Sick" on the weekend nights this is the place I have to go to. I have had some wonderful experiences and some terrible ones. Their prices are high versus a traditional vet's cost. This concept is no different than how a hospital is more expensive then going to a doctor's office. All in all this places is needed for emergencies and is the only one of it's kind in the area. I have found a vet in the area that is open 7 days a week (long hours, but still closes daily), so I will continue to use VEC's services as needed as long as they are available and just pray the "Good Staff" is working when I have to visit.

  • This morning my hound Molly was 12 hours into suffering from an old injury to her ear being completely torn in two. The bleeding wouldn't stop, and I had already visited VCA Pet Hospital on Howell Branch road and it was AWFUL. They sent me to these guys, and the tech Jessie kept my girl, and treated her even AFTER I told them I had an issue with my debit/credit card, and only had a little cash on me. They did everything the first office said could not be done, and assured me she'd recover. I walked out with a cone for $17.00, and peace of mind. Not sure who the doctor was, but in the middle of a hurricane, this staff is staying hunkered down until Tuesday morning. I saw 2 seizing dogs come in as we left. I would reccomned them to ANYONE!

1st time owner of a dog. Took my Ally to emergency as all of the sudden she was in pain, crying as something was hurting her and she couldn't seat, lay down or stay still. Gave her one aspirin. Waited for 1/2 hour but she was still on pain so I took her to the vet. When I got to the clinic, she was walking around and didn't cry either. I guess the aspirin was helping her with the pain. Explained that to the doctor and he thought there was something on her stomach!!!! Then he was going to do Xrays and treat her with pain medicine. Total 333.00!!! Declined the XRays and asked him for the pain medicine. The thing is that when I got home my dog hardly couldn't be stand up. She was very weak and it was like that for almost the whole night. She stayed on the same position I put her on her bed. My dog is an small dog and I believe she was overdosed. Then they gave me more of the same medicine to give her in 12 hours. Of course I didn't do it. Overall, I didn't like the clinic neither the doctor at all. Couldn't he tell it was her leg or hip? When she was walking I could see she wasn't leaning one leg completely on the floor. He never put her to walk to take the time to observe her. With my short experience with dogs I could tell better what was going on with my dog. Money, money, money is the priority of this clinic.
